Overview
A HAL 9000 voice assistant built into a 1:1-scale HAL model kit. It wakes on 'Hey HAL' and answers in a custom-trained voice made from samples from the film.
How it works
A Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a ReSpeaker 2-Mics Pi HAT detects the wake phrase locally with Porcupine. Speech-to-text (Vosk), the language model (Ollama) and text-to-speech (Piper) are all self-hosted on the local network. The HAT's LEDs show status, and audio plays through a small Adafruit speaker.
