Overview
NetworkChuck's complete guide to a fully local AI surveillance system with Frigate NVR: live viewing, person/car/pet detection, facial recognition, natural-language search of footage and Home Assistant integration, with nothing leaving your network.
How it works
The Raspberry Pi build uses a Pi 5 (8 GB) with a Hailo-8L AI HAT for object detection and Reolink cameras, at about $80, $70 and $56 per camera respectively. The repo has step-by-step progressive configs, a desktop plus Coral alternative and Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and goes with a YouTube video.
