Overview

Birdframe listens to the birds outside your window, identifies them with BirdNET and turns each day's birdlife into a stylised AI painting for an Inky Frame e-ink display. It also keeps a growing bird journal with a dashboard.

How it works

It runs as a macOS menu-bar app or on a Raspberry Pi, with a continuous audio → BirdNET → SQLite → gpt-image → frame pipeline. Audio is analysed in memory; only short best-of clips per species are kept. The dashboard shows today's detections, a journal of past days and a seasonal summary.

Hardware

  • Mac or Raspberry Pi
  • microphone
  • Pimoroni Inky Frame (optional)
