Overview

OpenSQZ Glass is an open research platform for local-first visual assistance: 3D-printed glasses capture first-person images and audio, and a nearby laptop or edge box runs the AI and speaks back. It was shown at WAIC 2026 and has an ACL 2026 paper.

How it works

The first hardware release includes an editable STEP frame, a print plate, a bill of materials and a bilingual build guide. An ESP32 bridge streams sensing data to local multimodal runtimes, including MiniCPM-o for voice conversations. Recent updates add Rokid glasses support and recording and replay tools.
